When it comes down to it, Sword Art Online is more of a love story than anything else. Sure, they're trapped inside the virtual reality video game and if they die in the game they die in real life too; but the main character, Kirito, really grows from a shy and selfish person with the sole intention of plaing the game alone, into a hero! He joins guilds along the way and even finds love! Once he gets out of the game it's a race to meet the girl he fell for in the game in real life.
